"Man this guy is like the Terminator"
You know how desperate I was when I walked out of Blockbuster with The Marine. I knew ahead of time that it was going to be bad but they only got in 8 copies of Letters from Iwo Jima, and of course they were all gone so I had to find something.
I'm an old school wrestling fan, not really big on the new stars like John Cena I am more into the days of Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan and the NWO, but Cena isn't too bad. I will say that when I learned Robert Patrick was in this it sold me on the rental.
The absolute coolest thing I have seen in a movie in a while was in this film. Now the film was just a step above one of those cheesy Cinemax action flicks, you know like instead of The Delta Force with Chuck Norris they have just Delta Force with a bunch of no names.........However there is one scene when Robert Patrick and his gang are having a shootout with Cena as they are driving and one of his goons says "Man this guy is like the Terminator," and immediately the camera cuts to Patrick's eyes as a very obvious way of giving a reference or credit to Robert Patrick for playing the T-1000 in Terminator 2. I guess you would have to be as big of a Terminator nut as me to get it.
Cena's acting is bad but physique is great. He really has the build and movements of an action star. I think the film made its biggest mistake with the editing and choreography of the fight sequences.......they are extremely choppy and hard to see because of the real quick cuts that they used to try to make the scene better. Also the weapon selection was rather weak for this style of action movie, nothing really that cool to look at.
I must admit that Robert Patrick's scene alone probably made my rating go up a tad, this film is not worth renting and should not be seen if any money is involved.
