Confetti

Well, after being convinced by some friends to try NetFlix, the first of our movies arrived tonight. And we're starting with "Confetti." Done in mockumentary style, it follows three couples vying for the most original wedding for a bridal magazine. The winner will be given a house. There's a musical theme, a tennis theme and a naturist theme. Each presents a variety of different obsticles for the wedding coordinators who have just three months to plan three weddings for three very different couples.

As for as British comedy goes, this is dry. I realize that saying dry and British Comedy is a redundancy, but this is really dry for British comedy. I'm not saying that it's bad. It was highly amusing, but there were very few actual laugh out loud bits. Also, I kind of have to say that unless you've planned or helped to plan a wedding, it may actaully be less funny. (Think "Office Space", it's a funny movie, but it's FAR funnier if you've worked in a cubicle).

So, who's going to like this movie? Well, it kind of had a Christopher Guest flavor to it. If you liked "Waiting for Guffman" or "A Might Wind", this one might appeal to you. Of course, this one doesn't have the added benefit of having Christopher Guest in it, but I will say it does have some amusing moments. Also, if you're a fan of dry British comedy, this might be your cuppa tea.
