Movie Review by Movie Addict
September 2nd, 2007

Maggie Gyllenhaal is superb!

I cannot say enough about the performance of Maggie Gyllenhaal in this film written and directed by Laurie Collyer.

Gyllenhaal (Stranger Than Fiction, Secretary) was magnificent in her portrayal of a drug addict trying to rehabilitate her life and regain custody of her daughter. Having dealt with the type for many years, I was fascinated as to how accurate she was in this role. She was dead on in the fact that it was all about her and what she wanted, instead of getting herself straight. Like most addicts, she did not want to do the work necessary. This was repeated to her by Danny Trejo in what is probably his best role ever.

If you want to see a movie about addiction and its consequences in a realistic view, then I doubt you can find a better film.
