Compelling, Real and Emotional
After the release of Paul Greengrass's United 93, a few other directors started working with films dealing with the events of 9/11. A low bidget director even created a made for tv movie called Flight 93. Now, responsible for the catastrophe of the film Alexander, director Oliver Stone creates World Trade Center. A film which stays true to the American spirit and offers up a tale of friendship and survival. While the events in this films are real, the film has a very emotional side to it. Recreating Ground Zero must have been a challenge for Oliver, but he had the need to do it, and create a great movie.
Nicholas Cage will probably be remembered for the truly epic performance he puts on in this movie as John McLoughlin. His performance in some parts is gut wrenching, sad and sometimes actually scary. But all the time is it great. Playing as his wife, Maria Bello also does a great job as McLoughlins wife. Micheal Pena plays as Will Jimeno, the other guy trapped with McLoughlin. Along with Nicholas's performance, Micheals is epic to.
The recreation of Ground Zero was done to perfection. While Olivers visual effects team took over in creating the scenes, Oliver did a wonderful job in capturing the wreck with his directing.
The films big standout is the directing of Oliver.
Bottom Line: A Film That Is Wonderful
