Movie Review by Rodney
June 30th, 2006

It isn't hard to play Clark Kent: he's clumsy, insecure, soft spoken and shy. The key factor to play this role is the look -- Brandon Routh has that look.

Directed with respect and style, Bryan Singer creates another chapter in the Superman universe that fits right into place. From the opening credits to the closing scene, Superman Returns feels not only like a Superhero movie, but like a Superman movie.
Singer doesn't disappoint fans by selling out or racing through the story; He takes his time. And we have all the time in the world.

Spacey does a wonderful job as Lex Luther (did we ever doubt?) and from his menacing plot of real estate, to his ditsy, dunce lady-friend, he is nothing short of a great replacement to Gene Hackman.

The film does have its flaws. The plot holes are enough to call in a cement truck, but need i remind you of the first Superman? In fact, maybe Singer did this on purpose. He wanted to create a child-like atmosphere where anything said or done on screen is accepted. We weren't meant to ponder the events occuring before us. We're meant to enjoy what's happening on screen, regardless of realism or continuity.

Superman Returns will generate the same feeling we all had when we saw Superman for the first time: a true delight.

I just got done seeing it, I loved it, even though I'm not a huge Superman fan
