Movie Review by B Movie Ben
May 20th, 2007

What was done to me was monstrous.

James McTeigue brought the skills he learned as an assistant director on such films as Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, The Matrix Reloaded, and The Matrix Revolutions to his first job as director in this film. He created a great film, written by the Wachowski brothers and starring Natalie Portman of the Latest Star Wars trilogy and Hugo Weaving of Matrix and Lord of the Rings fame.

The action and visual effects were stupendous. Stephen Rea (The Crying Gasme) was great as the inspector trying to find V, and John Hurt (The Elephant man, Midnight Express) was eerie as the man you loved to hate.

It was more than action and visual effects. It was a reminder of what fear can do and the ultimate consequences. Something we will hopefully learn in this country before it is too late, if it isn't already.

Funny I watched this again last night on Cinemax or HBO......can't remember which.........I am still impressed with Hugo Weaving's performance!

Portman was no slouch, either. She has come a long way as an actress (The Closer).

I just always think of her as "Matilda" from The Professional......its weird seeing her all grown up.
