Perfection Of Minnelli and Garland

This is just one of those perfect musicals. The camera loves Judy Garland and Lucille Bremer who play sisters in the title town searching for a suitor, but also dealing with family issues. Leon Ames is the perfect father overpowered by the women in his family (it is almost a 1940's 'Gilmore Girls'), but faking control nonetheless. Margaret O'Brien gives one of the strongest child performances of all time as the littlest Smith.
This film put Vincente Minnelli on the map as a great director, it also introduced him to Judy Garland, who soon became his wife and the mother of his daughter, Liza Minnelli.
But back to the movie. Oh the songs! "The Boy Next Door", "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and the title song of course. Classics all.
This is one of those perfect holiday movies that will never be forgotten. If you haven't seen it, wrap yourself up in a blanket, with a cup of hot chocolate and feel the love.
