What REALLY happened to LRRH?

-- Note to self: Perhaps I should start writing 3 sentence movie reviews, eh? --

This movie could have been better. It was a little too out there for kids and a little cutesy for parents. The script was sharp, the animation was cool and the characters were given a hip new angle for a younger generation. But it makes sense that the movie didn't do more business than it did. It also makes sense that even though it was released last year and is a family film no one had yet reviewed it for this site.

A story about Little Red Riding Hood and what really happened on the way to her grandmother's house, the story has the underlying theme of what happens when you allow big business to take over and swallow the little guy whole. Most of the audience that DID see this movie last year missed that point. In a world where Walmarts exist on every other corner, people couldn't make the connection of what the simple story was really getting at.

I blame that on the movie itself. Like I started off with, it had a great deal of potential and it tried to get there, but still wasn't willing to take the necessary risks to go all the way. If it had played more to adults it would have lost its built-in kiddie demographic. But it was too smart for most little ankle biters to get.

As a movie, I liked it. I wish it had pushed the boundaries a little bit more, but when it comes to family films, beggars can't be choosers.
