Movie Review by Zara
November 10th, 2007

I want to point out a couple of things. First, this movie is a remake. I haven't seen the original, but the entire time that I was watching this one with my mom, she kept telling me that that one was better. So I suppose I need to check that out.

The other thing I want to point out is that the script was written by Judd Apatow (along with Nick Stoller) so for all of those people who keep saying that Apatow is a machine, pumping out great sh*t all the time, they're wrong. I love Apatow as much as the next guy, but I'm getting sick of people elevating certain writer/directors to a godlike status so that it looks horrible when they fail. The fact is, they fail on a regular basis, we just choose not to remember or to overlook it until we've decided that they need to be knocked down a peg. That just really irritates me.

This is an OK comedy. The best stuff comes from Alec Baldwin, who you can feel free to hate if you wish for telling his daughter that she was being a sh*t, but is still a very solid comedy actor. Previously thought of as being just a sex symbol, I'm glad that he grew up and out so that people could finally recognize just how good he is. (As if good looks burn you from doing anything else. sh*t.)

That, and the fact that Ralph Nadar is in it gave me a couple of chuckles. It's mostly due to an inside joke with my sister, but still. Sometimes there are things that amuse you and that's good enough.

This movie has a couple of parts that I thought was some really good comedy. I actually have the same voice decoder box that Jim Carrey and Tea Leoni use when robbing the guy and Carrey does the Mr. Roboto impression. I have practiced that scene for many hours. Also the scene where Dick goes for the job interview only to find out that everyone there wants to make fun of him and even has the computer graphic of him getting kicked in the ass over and over again is freaking hilarious.

" Oh my God it's really him.......Dick did you bring your "sthatistics"? "

"We have a little expression around here when it comes to making a mistake its called pulling a Dick"

www.dickharperisatool.com HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I have to go watch this now!!!

Oh yeah, I did fail to mention that I think the Spanish speaking kid was the most annoying thing in the film that really served no purpose to the plot at all.

I thought this flick was funny. I'll have to check out the older version and see if mom was right. ;)

I hate to admit it but with older movies she usually is.
