Movie Review by Jesse
December 15th, 2006

George Clooney is the only amazing thing about it.

One thing for sure about this movie that is flawless is George Clooney's performance. He definitely deserved the Oscar. Now that that is aside I can start bashing this movie. How can you make a 2 hour movie about oil. Like c'mon... It starts to get boring around the 45 minute point and then kind of speeds up again around the 1 hour 40 minute point. It wasn't a very exciting movie, although I do realize it wasn't meant to be all exciting. It was very interesting, though. Jeffrey Wright always seems to impress me and in this movie he was incredible. I love him and his work. Matt Damon was himself like he is in all of his other movies so that was no treat. There were some great scenes and there were some scenes where I'd rather listen to a Yoko Ono song. I am still confused over whether or not Stephen Gaghan wrote this screenplay himself or adapted it from another source. It was nominated for an Oscar for the Original Screenplay category, but some discrepency occurred over that with people complaining that this was an adapted screenplay. I don't recommend this to many people, only people who have nothing else to watch and can sit through a 2-hour movie about oil and terrorism or George Clooney fans. He did give a stellar performance, though. Good job, George.
