Movie Review by Rodney
January 13th, 2006

It's finally here. The end of the long awaited saga we know as STAR WARS. Lucas' vision of his "Universe" is finally complete. Now that the dust has finally settled and the crazy fans have been to put to rest, I give you my critique.

First let's look at the negative aspect of the film. For one, and my biggest complaint, is the dialogue and the overall acting. Lucas cannot write dialogue if his life depended on it. This film is a prime example as we are given incredibly cheesy lines which only follow some wretched acting. We get weak performances from every member of the cast and Lucas adds to it with a screenplay that could be written by a middle-schooler.

We also get moments filled with random hilarity. From Obi-Wan Kenobi riding a retarded lizard that is almost as annoying as Jar-Jar, to "good relations with wookies, i have", I found myself laughing quite a bit.

As for the good aspects, It was better than the first 2 episodes. The story and inevitable plot is darker than any of the 6 films. Darkness prevails and the last 45 minutes pick the film off it's feet. We get a nice light saber duel between Obi-Wan and Anakin, and an impressive battle between yoda and the emperor. It was also interesting to see how everything would come about. However, there aren't any clever reasons for Anakin's sith name or how his iconic body suit came about. Fortunately, these are the least of the films flaws.

I recommend this film to everyone, as it is closure to an almost 30 year saga. It is better than the other 2 films, but doesn't touch the originals. The effects are, as always, spectacular, even though we barely see any of the "big" picture. Overall the film was decent and a step up from the previous 2. I only wish that Lucas stopped after the first 3. To me, these prequels weren't needed and without them, wouldn't hinder episodes 4,5 and 6. I only have one question for our writer/director: Lucas..... why?

and now some grade A dialogue:

Anakin Skywalker: The Jedi turned against me. Don't you turn against me.
Senator Amidala: Anakin, you're breaking my heart!
