Could Have Been Better.

Alexander is directed by master director Oliver Stone. Oliver Stone has done projects like Platoon, World Trade Center and more. Alexander gives us some ok acting, and some pretty intense fight sequences. The movie is way too long, good thing the directors cut is shorter then theatrical cut.

The acting in the movie was just ok. Colin Farrel puts on a pretty amazing performance, playing as Alexander The Great. His acting is done solid and he is believable. Anthony Hopkins puts on a pretty good performance. Playing as Old Ptolemy. Angelina Jolie is ok, her acting is not as solid as it was before and her performance is off just a little bit. Jared Leto does pretty good in here, he is a great singer to actor.

The fight scenes in the movie were shot and edited pretty well. Oliver Stone gets us right in the middle in the battle and makes them intense. We get some pretty real violence, and the choreography is done good. In one fight the screen turns red and the fight scene looks really good. The violence just kind of sprays and sprays, in little bits. Animals get into one of the fights and kill a major amount of enemies. Slow Motion sis used well along with some of the quick edit. There is just not enough fights. The whole movie is just talking and talking, fighting and more talking

One thing that I believe is strange is the directors cut of the movie. It is a little bit over 10 minutes shorter then the original. There is a little bit more fighting and some of the dialogue is made to be better.

Botom Line: Oliver Stone made an attempt at making a historical epic, but gives us too much talking and not enough fighting in the 3 hours the movie makes you sit for.

I thought this movie was absolutley hideous Jolie had an extremley dodgy accent and resembled a fortune teller, she also looked younger than her supposed son Farrel who couldn't play gay if his life depended on it....and as for Leto I lost all respect for him since he donned his tight pants, eyeliner and turned into a floppy fringed wannabe emo b*tch (stick to acting Leto)......k I'm done ranting now.
