Peter Pan's Inspiration

Marc Forster's period piece about James Barrie and his inspiration for writing 'Peter Pan'. Barrie (Johnny Depp) meets a woman (Kate Winslet) and her brood of sons, most notably young Peter (Freddie Highmore) who sparkles with the life and tragedy only a young lonely boy can express.

Winslet gives a great performance as a sick and dying matriarch who appreciates the friendship of the very married Barrie, though their unspoken affection may never be expressed.

Depp nails a Scottish accent and gives Barrie the depth of imagination needed to carry off a biopic role. It never seems dull or tried and that is a lot too ask from a fact-based role.

This movie expresses the dreams that come alive when one sees a world outside their own and it has a classic ending that remains with you long after the credits have rolled.
