Intimate. Tender. Tragic. Heartbreaking. Inspirational. Words to define Finding Neverland that also contains so many other heartwarming and moving moments. Based on the novel, "The Man Who Was Peter Pan," by Allan Knee, is a poignant tale of how make believe comes to life on stage and off. This is a story about a man, JM Barrie, and his journey to create the wonderful imaginative world of Peter... Peter Pan. JM Barrie's vision was brought to life after many obstacles, such as his failing marriage, poor reviews from critics of previous plays, and being the talk of the townspeople. Occasionally, Finding Neverland wanders into deep melodrama. As you, the viewer, must look beyond the movie because it truly demonstrates how the greatest joy is what we all crave for, but sometimes it comes from our greatest pain. Get compelled by how meaningful each relationship develops as they desire for companionship due to the empty lives they surrendered to and the struggles each has faced, which has driven them to each other for peace in their lives. Finally, Barrie’s Peter Pan stage debut is victorious and triumphs among the elite, but is balanced by tragedy. A tragedy that sets the children and Barrie to grow even further as characters in the movie. Unfortunately, there was no cure for TB back in that period of time. It wasn’t until a Scotsman named Alexander Fleming, who discovered penicillin in the later 40’s that a cure for TB was found. Anyway, JM Barrie (Johnny Depp), Peter (Freddie Highmore), and Sylvia Llewelyn Davies (Kate Winslet) demonstrated memorable performances that evolved in front of your eyes and yielded depth, which grabbed the audience’s attention to the point of being drawn to listen to every word. A journey that is worth taking. The presentation of the second production of Peter Pan only earns the wrenching glow of emotions that pervade you with a visual rendering of creativity and compassion. It definitely leaves you to experience a sensation of exuberance and also move you to tears even if the movie was a little bit on the long dramatic side. Believe whatever you want, but in my opinion I truly took pleasure in watching this picture show and the inspiration that instilled in me.
Like they said in the movie, “Clap your hands if you believe!”
