The Weather Man (2005)

This sh*t life.. we must chuck some things.
"I remember once imagining what my life would be like, what I'd be like. I pictured having all these qualities, strong positive qualities that people could pick up on from across the room. But as time passed, few ever became any qualities that I actually had. And all the possibilities I faced and the sorts of people I could be, all of them got reduced every year to fewer and fewer. Until finally they got reduced to one, to who I am. And that's who I am, the weather man." I have a plaque that I look at every day that puts it another way: "It takes courage to grow up and turn out to be who you really are." I watched this movie thinking it was just about the most depressing film I had ever watched. Dave's (Nicolas Cage) life was a train wreck. His job didn't fulfill him, he failed with his wife (Hope Davis), and his father (Michael Caine) really didn't respect him. he never smiled and the people hated him.
It all came together. It was because he just didn't know who he was and was trying to be something else. When he finally figured it out and "chucked some things in this sh*t life," he came out OK.

| This film was awesome.....I really liked the part when he was sent to the store to get tarter sauce and he is talking to himself inside his head.....its really funny. I thought he and Michael Caine both did wonderful jobs... |
