Movie Review by Craig
October 24th, 2007

A complete and utter trainwreck of a movie. I loved reading all the "if you don't get it, you're not smart enough" postings on the boards at the IMDB. There's nothing to get! This is not some great, lofty piece of art. It's an empty, pathetic waste of time. If you're familiar with the story "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" then you know what to expect from this film. If you've seen Carnival of Souls or any of a dozen other films that tread this same ground (the Korean film Spider Forest is another). And that's sad, because there is definitely some talent on display here, from the top-notch cast (Ewan McGregor, Naomi Watts, Ryan Gosling) to the usually reliable director and screenwriter (Benioff wrote the novel that Spike Lee based his great The 25th Hour on). I haven't been so bored or, ultimately, disappointed by a movie in years. I don't usually walk out of movies, but wish I had with this one.
