Movie Review by B Movie Ben
May 10th, 2007

You're too damn happy!

There are many movie moms out there that deserve to be Mom of the Year.

Mrs. Day, from Life With Father (1947); Mrs. Miniver, from Mrs. Miniver (1942); Mrs. Henderson, from Mother (1996); Mrs. Iselin, from The Manchurian Candidate (1962); Ma, from The Grapes of Wrath (1940)

or, you could go with the less obvious choices:

Mrs. Bates, from Psycho (1960); Sarah Connor, from Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991); The Bride, from Kill Bill, Vol. 1 (2003) and Kill Bill, Vol. 2 (2004); Mrs. Lift, from Throw Momma From the Train (1987); Mrs. Voorhees, from Friday the 13th (1980)

But, I don't think that you could find a Mom that is more deserving than Mrs. Ryan (Julianne Moore).

Having to raise eight children with an alcoholic husband (Woody Harrelson) is a supreme challenge and she stepped up to the plate and made it happen.

Happy Mother's Day, Mrs. Ryan.

One of my favorite films from 2005. Although Harrelson reminded me of my grandfather a little too much.

Although he was not obviously a veteran, due to the the timing of this movie in 1950, Harrelson could be representative of many of the men who came back from WWII.
