Movie Review by Tony
April 7th, 2006

Good points about "The Man": It's short. Bad points about "The Man", well, I don't have that kind of time on me. There is quite a few ways to amuse yourself on a cold, rainy day, there's no need to resort to this film. Other ways to amuse yourself include ... getting your teeth pulled, banging your head against your desk, jacking off with hot sauce, and lastly, asking for your money back if you rented this film. I saw for it free, and am considering asking the filmmakers for my time back.

"The Man" is an embarrassingly bad comedy which relies on the overdone, unfunny, and lame dorky white guy trying to be cool with the mean looking, crossed shoulders black man. This time we get Eugene Levy and Samuel L. Jackson along for this mess of epic proportions. Levy is usually reliable and always good for laughs, and Jackson is smart and entertaining, but they got nothing to work with here. "Lethal Weapon" called, they want their movie back.

Eugene Levy opens up our film looking in the mirror to prepare for his big dental speech at a dental convention. You see, he's a dental equipment salesmen. Levy speaking into the camera giving this speech is the last we see of any humor throughout this film. Instead, we get high school fart jokes, gun shots to the ass, and people calling each other b*tch. Creative writing if I do say so myself. Poor Levy and Jackson. Poor me. Poor everyone.

Jackson is a burned out cop who just lost his partner and is trying to get help on a gun buying heist. He bumps into Levy, who is the man and is able to help him go through with this and bust the bad guys. Why you ask? Since he looks nothing like the man. Then the bad jokes, gags, and misfires starting calling in. Levy tries to escape, gets shot in the ass. Levy has a burger, has gas in an elevator with nuns. Levy calls Jackson his b*tch. Levy steals a car. Tony F. jumps off a cliff. You get the idea.

The script is just embarrassing for all parties involved. It's degrading, full of cliches, and done with little skill or talent. You gotta wonder if Levy and Jackson had some photos of themselves with a donkey and the filmmaker held the photos ransom unless they did this film. I see no other reason why these guys would spend their time with this movie, unless the pay day was huge.

The buddy cop movie has been done to death and this one is unneeded, unnecessary, and just a waste of time for everyone involved. Levy and Jackson are talented actors, I beg you give them something to work with. Anything. There is really no need to see this film. There was no need to make this film. No need for it to be seen at theaters. Released on DVD or anything.

Films don't come any worse then "The Man"
