Movie Review by Zara
March 15th, 2007

I can't make up my mind

There was something so f*cking laughable about this movie that it ended up driving me nuts. I couldn't tell if it was trying to be serious or if it was just trying to be serious about mocking the blaxsplotation movies of the seventies.

Because I never really came to an acceptable conclusion in my own mind, I can't get behind the movie. If I take it as a serious venture then I have a major problem with it. First of all, I wish people would stop saying that Andre Benjamin can act. He can't. His performance here is excruciating to watch as you can practically see him roll his eyes back into his head as if he's trying to read his lines off of his brain.

Tyrese is in this because he's supposed to be hot. Great. He's hot, if that's what does it for you. He's also annoying.

That death scene with the little brother bleeding all over the place? How f*cking stupid was that? *strangles the air*

Debbie Reynolds as their surrogate mother is the only person that I think got the memo about it being a joke. Mark Wahlberg has worked for so long in order to be taken seriously as an actor that he doesn't allow himself to knock down a peg and get into it if that was what the point was. The tough guy act is just a little too over the top for me.

I feel like the guys from In Living Color and how they would say "Hated it!" Because, you know... I did.

I cannot even remeber if I finished it. And to think I was waiting to see it because I like Terrance Howard.
