Weird Restaurant/Hooker Musical
A really bizarre musical about a restaurant chain with pretty, proper waitresses working along the developing West of America by the railway line. Judy Garland stars and looks uncomfortable in weird costumes. Cyd Charisse does her best with an underwritten role.
The best parts by far come from Ray Bolger, a dancer unlike any other, comic and brilliant and so much more than the Scarecrow; a very young Angela Landsbury as a wh*re, she seems to be the only person really relishing this silly movie; and Virginia O'Brien, one of the most under-rated actresses of the era, with a weird hilarious way around a song.
Entertaining enough.
