Movie Review by Lance
June 24th, 2005

"Unleashed". What a great movie. Jet Li finally gets the kind of movie he deserves, and it only took him 42 years to get there. Imagine, an action film that is intelligent, well acted and still snap you spine violent. It was written by Luc Besson, the guy who gave us "Leon: The Professional" and "La Femme Nikita", among other great films, so you know they'll be some light pedophilia hinted at in the movie, but what do you want? The guy is French. Thank Heaven For Little Girls and all that. Who plays a slimy gangster better that Bob Hoskins? Who plays a better blind surrogate father better than Morgan Freeman? Who kicks ass better that Jet Li? And he's actually learned how to act for this one. "Unleashed" gets it done on all levels. Of course, I'm a critic, so leave me be critical: Fight choreographer Woo-ping Yuen, the fight guy from the Kill Bills and Matrix sequels, doesn't realize that Jet isn't as graceful with a weapon in his hand. Only the sledgehammer fight is convincing. We would have been much better served if jet had remained unarmed throughout the film, but it's a small point. Do not miss "Unleashed" on the big screen. You have been warned.
