There was no getting out of this one, guys, I had to see this J. Lo / Jane Fonda debacle at some point or my very meaning relationship with my girlfriend would have been jeopardized. Granted, I'll admit, at first glance this film didn't look too bad (first glance, mind you), however after this standard romantic comedy took off and both the monster-in-law (Fonda) and her son's fiance (Lopez) had both tried to practically poison each other, I knew there was no hope left.
The only positive aspect of this film, other than the beauty that is Jennifer Lopez, is the comic ability of Wanda Sykes, who possibly could have saved this film had she had more to do in it. The saddest thing, however, other than this being Oscar winner Jane Fonda's return to cinemas after a fifteen year absent, is Jennifer Lopez's constant need to make unfunny, uninteresting, and unentertaining slob like this.
Note to J. Lo.: Remember "Out of Sight," "The Cell" or hell, even "Angel Eyes," which I hated, yet will give you props for, mainly because of it's diversity? Don't you even remember "Money Train" or "Gigli," which yes, I do like and do own. Those films were way better than this or your other latest romantic miss-fire "Maid in Manhattan." You have a lot of talent - you do, trust me - so please stop wasting it on these forgettable movies and go back to make films that had some sort of purpose.
For the love of God, PLEASE!!
