Apparently there was a comic book series by the same title. I was unaware of this, but i saw the film anyway, and I enjoyed it.
Despite my lack of knowledge of the history behind any of the characters, or the series itself, i found the themes and visuals to my liking. Bloody revenge in a "nuveau film noire" style. The only colors in the film are the only important colors, and red is definitely one of them. And really, how can one go wrong with scenes of horribly bloody revenge followed immediately by fish-net stocking clad booty shots?
If you like a good film noire where the only real color is blood, and are cool with psychotic eye for an eye revenge, and also don't mind some black leather 'n chains framed ass, Sin City is the stuff - even if you don't know who "That Yellow Bastard" is.
