Hitler's Last Days......

I watched Downfall the other day after picking it up. It follows Hitler's last few days in his underground bunker as the Russian forces are advancing everyday towards Berlin. Hitler slowly but surely starts to lose power with his top ranking officers as everyone but him sees that the Nazi's are without a doubt going to be defeated.

The story is seen through the eyes of one of Hitler's loyal secretaries which stayed with Hitler to the end because she believed in him. It is based on a true story and there is plenty of historical facts in place. The film is not action packed but its not supposed to be. It is more showing you how Hitler which was so powerful and mighty lost all of it in a matter of days.

I will warn you for those of you that cannot stand to read subtitles...its in all German and it is not dubbed! The actors which I am not familiar with any of them were wonderful. It is very interesting to see this story on screen rather then reading about it in history books.

The only thing I didn't like about the film was that the film centers around Hitler and his wife committing suicide in the bunker. When it comes time to do the deed they do not show enough detail......its done very quickly and then right on to the next scene.

Very nicely done film, always remember to check out foreign films for some hidden treasures!

I'm going to have to check this one out. The Nazis fascinate me. We all know how ugly human nature is, but never has it been displayed so blatantly and inexcusably as during WWII.

Yes, but I will warn you this does not show the Nazi's as the evil being that they were. This film actually tries to make you feel sorry for Hitler as his dream is shattered!
