Downfall is an excellent, albeit horrible film. It is a well-made and fascinatingly violent and disturbing depiction of a period of world history not to be forgotten, lest it be repeated. Particularly of note were the deranged madness of Bruno Ganz as Adolf Hitler, the blind faith of the folks that followed him, and the danger that comes from operating on a level of moral development that is motivated by not wanting to be punished, and seeking approval from those in power. Most interesting was the opportunity to be witness to the cognitive dissonance of those in the Nazi party who were in too deep to do anything about thier dilemma.
See this movie in the evening, as it will deservedly ruin the rest of your day.
