Movie Review by Joe
June 9th, 2006

If you're looking for a fun, slap-stick comedy movie that really doesn't showcase Oscar-worthy acting or plot, and if you just want to have fun with friends on a Friday night, then Dodgeball is the movie for you!

Written and directed by Rawson Thurber, Dodgeball centers around the owner of Average Joe's fitness center Peter LaFleur (Vince Vaughn) as he struggles to keep his buisness afloat, despite being closeby to multi-million dollar fitness center Globo Gym, owned by the mean-spirited White Goodman (Ben Stiller). After a visit from lawyer Kate Veatch (Christine Taylor), Peter must do anything he can to keep his gym. With the help of regulars Justin (Justin Long), Gordon (Stephen Root), Dwight (Chris Williams - the brother of Vanessa Williams) and Steve the Pirate (Alan Tudyk), they try unsuccessfully to raise money to keep the gym.

That's when they discover they could enter a dodgeball tournament and the winning prize would be more than enough to keep their gym intact.

Globo Gym decides to also enter the competition, and Average Joe's is seen early on as the underdog. Even with the help of internationally known dodgeball tournament champion Patches O'Houlihan (Rip Torn) can't earn the team any respect.

Somehow, they make it to the grand championships of dodgeball, and they're very close to winning it all...all they have to do is get back their old nemesis, Globo Gym.

With awesome acting provided by Gary Cole, Jason Bateman, and William Shatner and featuring cameos by Lance Armstrong and Chuck Norris (come on, Chuck freakin' Norris is in this movie!), Dodgeball is a laugh-a-minute feel-good comedy.

Peter La Fleur: Look, White, I know that we've had our differences in the past...
White Goodman: Differences? Is that what you call sleeping with three of my female trainers?
Peter La Fleur: That was one night.
White Goodman: Or what about that strip-o-gram you sent me for the Globo Gym one year anniversary?
Peter La Fleur: The stripper was meant to be congratulatory.
White Goodman: It was also a man!
