Movie Review by Luz
July 27th, 2007

It had all the funny, smart-alec sass of its predecessor while retaining the original messages regarding inner beauty and true love. Add to that the hilarious (and disturbingly sexy?) Puss-in-Boots, and they really had the recipe for a blockbuster of a sequel...

But I have to say--and maybe it's just the prude old lady in me talking--that I was just a tiny bit disappointed by the amount and extent of the sexual innuendos dispersed throughout the film. Where the first Shrek was extremely careful in walking that fine line, I think Shrek 2 crossed it just by a tippy toe, enough to make a few moms in that theater just a little bit uncomfortable.

Still a great kids' movie overall, though, and an exceptional adult comedy. Great music, once again, and the animation seemed even better than the first.

Bottom Line: "Better out than in" is only funny the first seventeen times your kid farts in the living room.
