Blade finds himself alone surrounded by enemies, fighting an up hill battle with the vampire nation and now humans. He joins forces with a group of vampire hunters whom call themselves the Nightstalkers. The vampire nation awakens the king of vampires Dracula from his slumber with intentions of using his primitive blood to become day-walkers. On the other side is Blade and his team manifesting a virus that could wipe out the vampire race once and for all. In the end the two sides will collide and only one will come out victorious, a battle between the ultimate vampire whom never knew defeat, facing off against the greatest vampire slayer.
David Goyer takes Blade Trinity, and completely changes it from the two original movies in the series. By adding 2 new characters, Hannibal and Abigail, and by adding the king of all vampires Dracula, the movie is a completely new approach to the series. While not exactly better then the first two movies, it comes out with more action, more bang. The opening chase scene of the movie is very nice and from there on the action never really slows down. We get more of a sense of humor with Blade and more comedy thanks to Hannibal as played by Ryan Reynolds. The film also attempts to make some pretty creepy moments but never really takes that to the necessary level.
We seem to see a different Blade here then we have in the two original films. It seems as if hes getting desperate about catching these vampires because hes getting dirty. His chase scene in the beginning of the movie was surely a cool scene to watch, but you can tell that hes getting a little bit dirty with his capturing and killing of the vampires. I kind of appreciated this little change because I like to see a new side of characters with sequels and this is a very neccesary change for him because for two films, hes been careful and as a fan, we knew that one day he was going to make that one dangerous change.
Wesley Snipes is still kicking it better then ever with Blade Trinity. This time around, he seems to have a little bit sense of humor and everything because he sometimes smiles and actually has some really good lines in the movie. Abigail is Whisperer's daughter, played by the ever so beautiful Jessica Biel. She is still looking good and she is a very serious character. She concentrates on the mission ahead by listening to the latest techno music. She does a good job with the role and I really liked her as a character. Ryan Reynolds plays as Hannibal, and he is my favorite character of the entire movie. He jokes around a lot and is never really serious, this I like because its kind of a comedy relief around the whole movie.
The action of Blade Trinity is still really good, and not as good as Blade II, it still offers up some cooler scenes and set pieces to fight in. The directing isnt really top notch, the thing that dissapointed my greatly. While the action scenes are cool and offer up some good ideas here and there, I felt as if all the editing and the basic approach to the action didnt fit well with the franchise. It couldve been a lot cooler if he kept the same smooth approach to the cinematography as they did with the other movies.
Blade Trinity is not the best film in the series, but its a worthy sequel. 3.5 stars out of 5.
