Bad First Outing

One of the main things wrong with this movie is the producers were in too much of a hurry to get to use the technology. As most people have learned with any major programming, you've got to let it go through a few run-throughs before all of the kinks are worked out of it. Or at least wait until it's half-way decent and release something like MONSTER HOUSE.

But when you're in a hurry and you release a movie where the children's faces move in a warped slow motion, looking out of sync with the lines being delivered. It's flat out f*cking CREEPY.

The once voice talents are... well... Tom Hanks. Sure, there are supposed to be other people contributing voices, but the only one worth noting is Hanks. Not having a big name isn't the problem here. It's the fact that none of the voices are strong enough to stand out or help make the whole out of sync problem a little bit better.

The story is a huge snore as well. Supposedly this is a big children's favorite, but I have a 6 year old and even she thinks it stinks. Every little kid knows the story of Santa Claus. Why make it all gooey with some line about a bell from Santa's sleigh? Come up with something a little more original. Test the limits of the traditional stories. Otherwise... don't bother.
