Movie Review by James
August 21st, 2005

I am not being mean, and I do like Jamie Foxx in most of his films, but this is a really long, drawn-out film, kind of boring and not really interesting at all.

Ray Charles is a very famous American entertainer, and stories like his are interesting and I love them, but this movie just draws it out way Way WAY to much! I do not recomend seeing this one at all, sorry Jaime.

Also, Jaime Foxx is a good actor, but he did not deserve the academy award for Best Actor, because quite frankly, I think Johnny Depp blew Jaime Foxx out of the water with his performance in Finding Neverland, and not only that but Don Cheadle also did a better job that Jaime Foxx in his great film Hotel Rwanda.

Recently there has been a very sad and negative undercurrent in the Academy, as the gave Denzel Washington the Best Actor award 3 years ago, for Training Day, which is one of the worst movies out there, and all he did was play a dirty cop, ooooh! like that's never been done before. That year there were two other people up for awards, Russell Crowe for A Beautiful Mind, and Sean Penn for his amazing performance in I Am Sam, and if Denzel had any class, he would take that Oscar and bring it to Sean Penn, because Sean Penn totally kicked Denzel's ass! A year ago Sean Penn did win the best actor, for Mystic River, which is good and he is good in it, but he deserved the award for I Am Sam, and I had little respect for Denzel already, but since that day, I have no respect for him and do not even watch his films anymore.

Sean Penn deserved the award for I Am Sam, not Denzel for his lousy and boring performance in the lousy and boring, outright terrible movie, Training Day, and Sean Penn was good in Mystic River and he deserved the award but I would have lobved to have seen Johnny Depp win it for the hilarious and cool pirarate Captain Jack Sparrow in Oirates of the Caribbean, and finally last year Jaime Foxx did not deserve the award for Ray, even though he is good and did a good job, there were two other actors who deserved the award far more than he did, Johnny Depp for Finding Neverland and Don Cheadle for Hotel Rwanda, and if not Johnny Depp for his wonderful role in Finding Neverland, then quite frankly Don Cheadle kicked Jaime's butt in his role in the very deep and sad film Hotel Rwanda.

Maybe this next year the Academy will actually get it right and give the award to someone who really deserves it, Jaime is good and I am ok with his having won, but there were two far better performances by Johnny Depp and Don Cheadle that should have won, Sean Penn was good the year before and he did deserve the Oscar, but he really deserved it for I Am Sam, and Denzel Washington, all he deserved was a kick in the as$ for making that dog movie Training Day, and another kick in the as$ for accepting the award that really should have been given to Sean Penn.
