A Sequel Better Than The Original
The Bourne Trilogy is a truly fascinating and engaging action spy series. Supremacy is the 2nd film in the 3 part series, Identity being the first and Ultimatum being the last. The Bourne Supremacy might have changed directors, from Doug Liman to Paul Greengrass, but the film acually reigns better then the first movie. The directorial style of the film has changed drastically, but the film remains the same in terms of the suspense and major action scenes.
The Bourne Supremacy continues the Bourne series in the greatest way possible. Jason Bourne continues his adventure in finding out who he reall is. When Marie is killed, he must travel back to London. But then hes setup, as 2 agents are mysteriously murdered, someone left Jasons fingerprint at the scene. Now, he must run from agents, cops, and the most dangerous thing in the world to him. Himself.
Matt Damon returns to continue playing as Jason Bourne. As I said before, I never really like Matt as an actor, but after seeing his amazing performance in Identity, I knew he was going to do something with his life. I believe that he actually does a better job in here then the first movie, now that were getting deeper into his character and more secrets are revealed on screen. His performance is scary good and haunting.
Franka Potente finishes off her character in the first 15 minutes of Supremacy, were all sad to see Marie go. In this film, for her short screen time, her performance is great.
Julia Stiles made a small appearence as Nicky in the first movie, but has an even bigger part in the sequel. For her character, her performance is done precisely well. There are moments where her character must be afraid, happy and even crying her eyes out, and she nails each one perfectly.
Genre wise, the first film exceeded in the thriller and suspense genre. Now with Greengrass taking over, the film moves more into the action/suspense range. A lot of people hate his style of directing, his camera is shaky and all the clips are rough interms of editing. This, to me, improves the film in a way. It kind of throws you into that situation and gets you more involved with whats happening.
Action wise, the film does no flaw. There are plenty of hand to hand fight scenes which will get your heart pumping, then when theyre over, your left hanging over your seat waiting for the next one. The big highlight of this film is the amazing car chase scene. Directing wise, this chase is perfect. Its real and adrenaline pumping.
Bottom Line: Supremacy Really Has No Big Flaws, And Its Deeply Enjoyable.
