Let's think back to highschool. Did you lack in social skills, did you believe your family was just too weird, did you have a friend who's appearance was pure geeky or was that you? All the strangeness of growing up is put into one great flick! Napoleon Dynamite is the story of a small town kid trying to find his way through the jungles of high school, friendships, family, and romance. The feelings of being connected to the characters and the story is what makes this movie so great and heartwarming. I found myself laughing hilariously at the awkwardness and quirkiness of each character and their peculiarities especially at napolean... knowing i was sometimes laughing at myself. craziness!
This talented cast executed their roles with perfection, as if they got lost and pulled into their roles. just superb! They definitely take you to another level of living the moment with them. You feel one with these truly unique characters and you grow to love the annoying dorky characters as if they were once your friends..
Coincidentally, the movie is like Napoleon, a person who is who he is and just lives his life that way. Did i tell you that this movie is AWESOME! Anyway, some might believe that this movie is cruel, offensive, and mocks others. But truthfylly, "it celebrates the people who defy the "perfection" mold imposed on all of us by society". So like i said.. he is who he is and lives his life like that. Napoleon Dynamite doesn't crouch down in fearful submission, run from fear, or hide... he accepts whatever is given to him and from that experience he is stronger for it. He truly follows his heart eventhough he may be stubborn, foolish, a total loser high school geek with no social graces whatsoever, embarassing and reserved. Napolean's honesty and simplicity shines through the screen. And Napolean even saves the day because you know... "the underdog can sometimes triumph!" ye yeah!
Originally funny. A definite classic. And it truly stands in a class of its own. So don't forget to wait patiently to watch most of the closing credits because it's just so entertaining as well. Also check out the deleted scenes... the extended thrift store scene and the kickball scene were crazy funny, which should have been left in the movie.
Hey... this is a real love-it or hate-it film with all the mixed reviews i've read out there, but i got to say... I absolutely LOVED it! And the movie title says it all... DYNAMITE! Explore for yourself! Enjoy and Laugh OUTLOUD!
one last thing...
