Movie Review by Seth
January 25th, 2005

Why oh why does Michael Mann do this? He takes a great movie and he quite simply ruins it with an ending. His two exceptions are THE INSIDER, which is a great movie, and ALI, which is crappy from beginning to end. But COLLATERAL, like HEAT, was a movie I enjoyed up until it came time to wrap it up. Instead of continuing the unique patterns of Mann's filmmaking, he instead stretches the ending out over about 3 to 4 long, boring, and standard action sequences that leave me just wanting yell CUT!!!

Mann does know how to set a good scene, get great performances, and keep things interesting. This is probably why I get so frustrated with his endings, they are anything but unique or interesting.

Foxx is great in this and Cruise is pretty good himself. It's just the damn ending.
