Shaun of the Dead (2004)

The Dead Don't Talk - Thank Goodness
Eh!? Hello!? You call that speaking English, my little, Limey Darlings!?
Umm... All joking aside - For all of the big, bloody, bloated fuss that's been made over this one - Well - Uh - Sorry - But this girl found Shaun of the Dead (SOTD) to be way-way too over-rated for its own bloody good. Yep. It sure was.
One of my biggest beefs behind my major disappointment of SOTD was that for more than half of the goddamn time I could not - I repeat - I COULD NOT understand what the F_CK anyone was saying. I'm not kidding!
Yeah. OK. I know damn-well that everyone was, indeed, speaking English (or, at least, I think they were), but this was an English coming from a whole, completely different world, so to speak. And, I'm sorry, but with all of the bloody heavy-duty accents, and the weird, alien slang, and the annoying way that everyone was always running all their goddamn words together - Well - As you can well-imagine, it was making me so FUKKING ABSOLUTELY CRAZY!!
Believe me, there were many-many times when I know for sure that I had just missed out on getting the punchline of yet another killer-diller joke. But because my ears just weren't tuned into the preposterous way that everyone was speaking the English language - Well - I totally missed out on another belly-laugh. And so all I was left doing was scratching my pretty, little head and saying "Huh!? I don't get it!", and screaming my guts out for the aid of a proper English translator, or something, or anyone, who could clue me into what the hell everyone was saying that was supposed to be so bloody funny - 'Cause I sure didn't find it funny.
And besides not being able to comprehend the unbelievably garbled lingo of the British boys and girls - I detested the final climax of this film, big time. It was such a blatant rip off from Night of the Living Dead. It was. And all that I could do while it was happening was just yawn my head off until it was all over. It was really that dreary and dull to me.
No, my Zombie-Loving Darlings - In my 'Americanized-English' opinion - Shaun of the Dead wasn't worth much more than the measly, little rating that I gave it. It really wasn't.
So there.

| You will prefer "Zombieland," which is better anyway. I like "Shaun of the dead" but it gets to serious for a comedy near the end. |

Blaspheeema!!!! ;)
Shaun of the Dead just out an out rocks it is British comedy at it's best. I think all you need in order to enjoy it, is some intensive English lessons... Sweetheart there is help out there, I will train you (for a small fee of course) and in no time you too will be laughin' yeh t*ts off to great comedies like Shaun of the dead, Hot Fuzz, and Monty Python. |

| I liked Shaun of the Dead, but I do think that it's overrated. There are many zombie comedies out there that are funnier or gorier than this. Dead Alive, Zombie Strippers, and Hide And Creep come to mind. |
