No Funny Parts What So Ever

Shark Tale Movie Review

Director's: Eric Bergeron, Vivky Jenson, and Rob Letterman

Actors: Will Smith, Jack Black, and Robert De Niro

Rated PG: For Some Mild Language and Crude Humor

In this undersea CGI flick, Robert De Niro plays Don Lino, a mob shark who's looking to expand his operation. When one of his sons is killed by an errant anchor, a young punk named Oscar (Will Smith), disgruntled with his job at a day spa and car wash for whales, claims responsibility and is hailed as a hero.

Shark Tale had one good aspect and that was the Graphics other than that there is nothing good about Shark Tale. The formulaic story of Shark Tale never reaches the giddy heights of Pixar's output (Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc., Toy Story) or the freewheeling comedy of Shrek. That is why it was such a huge flop for me I did not laugh once in this whole movie. The problem is not that the film has ethnic stereotypes - it does. The real problem is that the material is so tired. De Niro a mobster? Really? Will Smith a bling-fiend? What? Scorsese a manic? Ugh! Folks will likely argue that these performances were parodies... send-ups of past film roles. No... they were the same performances. De Niro was channeling Paul Vidi, Smith... the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and Scorsese... well, Scorsese. Well that's what I thought of Shark Tale.

Overall this is not a good movie but fans of Will Smith might enjoy it.

Eh, there were better films but there were also most definitely worse films. You tend to change your views on kid's movies once you have a kid. Sometimes you deal with what you can when you've got a toddler who wants to watch the same movie over and over again. Luckily, mine chose LILO & STITCH, FINDING NEMO, and

I really don't remember too much about this one. I remember the car wash scene at the beginning, and a part with Jack Black pretending someone's dead...or someone died...not a good sign. I knew there was a reason I didn't buy this one on DVD. LOL
