Movie Review by Zara
January 28th, 2007

There's a good reason why I don't eat shrimp

Some of the performances that were meant to stand out in this flick (Smith, Jolie, Black) aren't the highlight of this story of a little fish who supposedly takes on a shark and lives to tell the tale. It's the other more surprising turns that made me giggle the most.

Robert DeNiro is the voice for the godfather of the sharks, complete with a little mole on his animated shark puss. He quite obviously is having a great deal of fun with the role, mocking the previous ones that he's had in his more serious past.

And while I have never been a big fan of Scorsese, I actually liked his turn as the blowfish. It goes along well with the hyper fish that he's voicing and for once his personality seems fitting and not just annoying.

I did enjoy the concept of a vegetarian shark and think that Black was able to subdue himself more, which is a positive. Overall, SHARK TALE is a fairly painless movie for parents to have to sit through in order to please their kids. Not a classic, but not as bad as some of the others that I've been forced to endure.
