Movie Review by Zara
March 5th, 2007

I. Love. Lamp.

I was a fan of Judd Apatow from the opening scene of the television show Freaks & Geeks, and yet I don't know why it took me so long to get around to watching this movie. OK, so maybe I really do know. There's been far too much of Will Ferrell in movies lately and sometimes there can be too much of a mediocre thing.

I find Ferrell funny on occasion and the same rings true for this movie. The main reason why I liked it so much was for Steve Carell's retarded weatherman as well as seeing our little Kelly Bundy play it straight. Christina Applegate may look like she's a major b*tch in real life, but that woman learned the finer art of hitting her comedic cues.

Top it off with the fact that Paul Rudd just seems to get better the weirder he's allowed to be ("To answer your question, Yes... I do have a name for my penis and it's The Octagon.") and mix in the news reporters having their beat down where Luke Wilson loses an arm...

I don't know what it was. A combination of everything all at once, I suppose. Not quite as funny as THE 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN, but fairly damn close.
