Serpico (1973)

Happy Birthday Al
Sidney Lumet's Serpico got Al Pacino a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination for his performance as an honest cop.
This was a gritty performance that focused on Pacino for 99% of the movie. I don't know any other actor that could probably pull off this performance.
Sure, he had support from a fine cast and the New York location was critical, and Mikis Theodorakis score was beautiful, but this was Pacino through and through.
While he seemed great in the Godfather, he really shows that he can act in this film.

| I think this is the only movie that I've seen of Pacino's where he was even remotely good looking to me. I blame it on the beard even though I'm not a beard fan. |
