Not the worst remake ever (that would be Gus van Sant's Psycho), but certainly one of them. The idea is to update the themes of the excellent source material to fit the post-feminist new millenium; the problem is that the script is muddled and nonsensical at best, and trite and stereotypical at worst. A wonderful cast is wasted on a film that doesn't take itself seriously enough to tackle the point it seems to be trying to make.
