Movie Review by Seth C
March 31st, 2006

Some may see "Saved!" as nothing but a ninety minute plus mockery of Christianity, however let me be the first to strongly disagree. Sure, some of the jokes may be out of bad taste and direct jabs at the religion, but in all honesty I believe there is more truth in the film than humor (and keep in mind that I think this film is pretty darn funny). I think anyone who takes great offense to this film and it's portrayal of SOME Christians are possibly too uptight about their religion to begin with and more then likely blind to the world in which they live. Of course, I could be wrong and in no way do I mean to judge, however in my own attempts at Christianity, I've encounter more Hilary 'Fakes' than brothers and sisters truly asking, "What would Jesus do?"

Yes, maybe "Saved!" does push the envelope a few too many times, but the fact that the filmmakers went with a PG-13 rating instead of an R redeems most of the film's would-be flaws. (NOTE: The film could have been a lot more racier and for proof of this, check out the "Saved! Revelations" feature on the DVD).

When Hilary Faye throws a Bible at another character and screams, "I am filled with Christ Love!" the filmmakers aren't pointing their fingers and laughing at those in the Christian faith. Instead their sitting off-screen screaming, "Message!" "Saved!" isn't a mockery, but instead a film very much in touch with the spirituality of the world today and it's youth, which doesn't always believe or follow what their preaching.

As a believer in Christ and His Love, I think high praise should be given to this near perfect film.
