Loved the movie, hated some of the characters

Favorite Movie Quote: "CJ: The plan is you drink a nice tall glass of Shut The f*ck Up!"

This was my second zombie flick and I'm very quickly becoming a huge fan of the genre. In stark contrast to the original night of the living dead, this movie meant to and sucessfuly kept me jumping the whole time. It was surprisingly more predictable and so that was slightly dissapointing. From mid-way through the film I already knew who was going to perish and who wasn't. The main reason I gave this film such a low rating was for that reason and the fact that so many of the characters were overty and almost unbearably obnoxious.

I caught myself screaming "stupid ****, you deserve it" more times than I would've liked. That's also goes hand in hand with the other reason I didn't like it which was the directors/writers made us either love or hate characters. There were no characters which the audience was permitted to feel neither way about. As soon as I realized what was going on it was clear that those more disliked persons would be the first to go and the ones which we had quickly been thrust into liking would surely survive. Of course, as in any film there were characters that we liked that met a terrible fate; without that the film would've been "too perfect".

All in all a very entertaining film with great suspenseful moments, well written (convincing and compelling) script and excellently executed. It seemed to conform too closely to a template of cinematic excellence for my taste (I prefer unusual surprising movies) but still something I would everyone to watch regardless of their interest in the genre or not.

You say well written script in your review... I just want to point out that this script is VERY different then George Romero's first script from 1978.. Although I liked this film A LOT... I still think its one of the best remakes ever.... it does not touch Romero's masterpiece.
