Dissapointing As a fan of both the Alien and Predator series, I was coming at this film expecting way to much from it. One thing about this movie, it is simply mindless entertainment, because if your like me and expect a lot from this movie then you wont like it. Im not saying I dont like it, its cool and awesome in its small ways but I was just way to dissapointed with it to enjoy it to its full. Paul WS Anderson, the guy who brought us the first two Resident Evil films tries to bring real Pg-13 horror to the screen. Thats one thing I didnt understand, Aliens and Predators are two of the most violent and brutal creatures to ever hit screens, then you put them together in what could have been an amazing movie, and make it pg-13. Set in the early 21st century on Earth, Charles Weyland, an industrialist billionaire, leads an archaeological expedition in Antartica. Using thermal imaging satellites, Weyland believes to have discovered the ruins of an ancient pyramid temple that predates the Egyptian and Aztec pyramids buried under the ice. Once inside, the team finds the remains of humans with holes in the rib cage and the remains of facehuggers, meaning that the possibility of the temple being uninhabited is very unlikely. To make matters worse, a group of teenage Predators are coming to the temple to perform a coming-of-age ritual that involves fighting to the death with the aliens. Soon, it becomes clear that only one species is getting out alive. I have to give it up to Paul Anderson for even attempting to put this film together, because I am sure there are tons of other directors out there who had the idea to do this movie but were afraid to go along with it. So, I give Paul credit there. So, on the positive side of things. I thought Pauls directing was really good here, because he kind of lacked the good directing in the RE films. I also really liked how he pushed the pg-13 rating to its limit because this is the most violent pg-13 movie I have ever seen. In the end of the movie, we kind of get a connection between the predators and humans which I really liked because it showed more of a human side of things to the predators. Now, the negative side of things. Paul attempted to kind of put a human story to the film, because for the first 35 minutes or so of the movie absoulutely nothing happens so when something did happen, I was almost asleep. Another thing which really bothered me was the fact that I felt like a lot of the scenes between the predators and aliens were way to short, because the name is Alien Vs Predator, not alien against human versus predator against human. So, in the end, I felt like the whole movie was just a battle for how many humans they can kill in total. One last thing, the mother Alien looked way to fake for me to enjoy any of that scene.
