Not As Good As There Predecessors

AVP Alien vs. Predator Movie Review

Director: Paul W.S. Anderson

Actors: Lance Henriksen, Sanaa Lathan, and Raoul Bova

Rated PG-13: For Violence, Language, Horror Images, Slime and Gore

An ancient pyramid is discovered buried in the ice of Antarctica, and scientists investigating the structure discover something really bad: two races of aliens battling for domination. As the two species fight, humans find themselves caught in the middle and becoming casualties.

AVP could have been way better. The Acting and Special Effects were the best parts of the movie. It did have some negative aspects; Unfortunately, AVP has a lot working against it. Besides the previously mentioned bad buzz, I know many people take issue with the fact that it isn't R rated like its predecessors. It's PG-13. In many people's minds, this means it is not as good. They believe that the scares and gore have been toned down for the kiddies. Well, yes and no. The film didn't get the R rating because it wasn't people getting gutted, cut, and mangled. It was the imaginary monsters that were. Because there isn't so much violence against humans, it got the lighter rating. It also wasn't as scary as the original Alien and Predator movies. Another one is the cameras would pull into to far with the fight scenes it would just look like a big blur. I also did not like how it was based in the Artic I liked the futuristic setting for Alien and the jungle setting for Predator but no this one is in a Pyramid. I only have two positive comments about this film the Acting was good and the Special Effects were great.

Overall this is a good action flick but not as good as their Predecessors
