Movie Review by Lisa
March 29th, 2007

I'll have the double sin burger with cheese please

I had the great misfortune of seeing this pile of sh*t in the theatre but it was called "Sin Eater" in the UK. I figured Heath and Shannyn Sossamon were pretty good in "A Knights Tale" and maybe that energy would carry over to this film (....Oh how naive I was).

The film tries to have that edgy "Stigmata"/"End of Days" feel to it but it doesn't really work ....unless your Catholic and believe all that wank about not being able to get to heaven if you aren't given the last rights or something like that (I don't mean to erk all you Catholics out there). So the main jist of it is that if a catholic is excommunicated (or not a nice person) or not given the last rights they can't get to heaven...so we got this demon fella called a sin eater who absolves the sins of the excommunicated and such thus allowing them to go to heaven, and then we've got Heath whose a member of an excommunicated order priests running around trying to kill the sin eater.

Now the fatal flaw with this movie is that if your not catholic and don't give a flying f*ck about the catholic rituals then its not scary or even creepy, its just plain old pointless.

If you buy into that Catholic BS then you may like this more than I did.

Man, I hated this f*cking movie. I'm glad it they changed the title for the US release, because The Sin Eater is a really good one. It would suck to waste it on this tripe. I should have just stayed home and watch The Exorcist. Hell, even Repossessed would have been a better bet.
