Love, Actually is Pretty Good

To write a review about this movie is almost impossible, as it catalogs the loves and losses of about twenty people and plays out like a series of short films connected loosely - if at all (there is no connection between some of the characters, particularly Bill Nighy's has-been rocker and his agent).

Among those in the piece include Hugh Grant, Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, Liam Neeson, Keira Knightly, Laura Linney, and Colin Firth. Love chronicles these various couples, friends, singles, and single parents through the holiday season and examines romantic love in all its stages and colors, as well as familial affection between brother and sister, father and son and platonic love that friends have for one another.

When watching it, Love is like seven or eight romantic comedy/dramas smushed into one 135-minute movie, but nothing feels rushed or forgotten and at no time does it feel as if we've lingered too long. It seems to espouse the idea that love is everywhere, but you must grab on to it when it is offered, enjoy is when you have it, and appreciate the memory once it is gone.
