Scary and Thrilling
28 Days Later is a horror film from director Danny Boyle. With the large number of stupid horror films currently being released, this movie is different. Danny Boyle shows us a different side of England, the quiet, alone and scary version of it. The film scared me, disgusted me and also put some suspense into my system. It does nicely on making you feel like your actually in the empty England area at the time, and gives you nightmares about the realities of the disease. Rage.
The film focuses on Rage. A disease in which was ejected into a group of monkeys as a test, but when a few animal lovers decide to let them free and be attacked at the same time. From then on the virus spreads. Now Jim (Cillian Murphy) awakes inside of an empty hospital, alone and confused. He soon discovers though, as he finds a group of survivors, that what is currently going on is not normal.
The movie is shot nicely. Danny has a way of getting the sorroundings nicely. There are plenty of nice wide shots in which capture the area and make the movie scarier. The film features a very shaky, hand-held camera style of photography. All of the action scenes and the attacks from the infected were scary mainly because of this camera style.
This is not a zombie movie. The infected do not bite eachother or live on raw human flesh. Mainly the disease makes the people crazy, boosting their adrenaline and rage up to a different, more dangerous level.
Bottom Line: Scary and Visionary.
