Movie Review by Martin
October 17th, 2009

This is probably the first film i have made an effort to see purely because of the high praise it has on here. That and the fact Adam Sandlers latest "funny people" seemed to have people saying it was his best serious performance since this. Oh, and i remember my sister saying this was weird and she didn't like it, meaning i probably would like it :D

It realy is a bit of a hidden gem this. It has an entirely different approach to telling a soppy love story in that one of the twosome is kinda crazy. Adam Sandler is giving it his all in this and truely deserves any praise he has been given for his acting here. The subplot with him being blackmailed by Philip Seymour Hoffman adds some extra drama to the movie, making it more than just a romance, and the film has funny moments to, if not the usual kind of laughs you would assosiate with Sandler.

The weird approach the film has to telling its bizare story it what works best, but will be what puts some people of seeing "Punch drunk love" ever. The style makes things unique, but also a bit to strange. There were moments where i was confused as to what was going on, but overall, the film was still excellent.

I'm with you on this. If someone doesn't like a movie because they find it too weird, then I will probably like it myself (heh, heh, heh). Good review.
