Extreme and Fun
Vin Diesel stars in this action packed film called xXx. When the film was first announced, I figured it would be a cool idea mixed with all the hardcore action scenes that they could throw into the film. Vin Diesel is a bad ass, which I absoulutely loved in this movie, and he makes all the action scenes greater then they really are. If your an action junkie, or a man, you should love this movie.
xXx is about Xander Cage, a thrill ride junkie who is constantly getting in trouble with the police or other forces. One day though, after a stunt involving the mayors Corvette, SWAT come bursting through his door, knockin him out. He wakes up in a cafe where a robbery begins to take place, after stopping it, he finds out that t was all a setup. Secret Agent Augustus Gibbons comes to his side, offering him his freedom for his help. Now, he must help the agents and survive the attacks.
Vin Diesel did absoulutely amazing in Pitch Black and in the sequel, Chronicles of Riddick. His build and kick ass attitude help almost every role he plays in, but this role in xXx is perfect. The charater of Xander is a thrill junkie, much like Vin himself, so that all matches evenly. Asia Argento rocked the screen in George A. Romeros Land of The Dead, and does just as good in xXx as she did in there and her other films. Surprisingly, with her sexy accent and attictude, her performance is done well. Samuel L Jackson is probably one of the coolest actors on the face of this earth, with his kick ass voice, his roles are all fantastic.
Rob Cohen had worked with Vin before on his previous project The Fast and The Furious, so they pretty much know each other well. Rob Cohen got his action scenes right when he did The Fast and The Furious, so it made me happy to know that he would be directing this, knowing that not just any director can do it. Most of the action is very fast paced and never lets up when it comes to making it heart pumping and getting your adrenaline racing. Even though some of the stunts are a little unbelievable, I thought they were really cool.
The overall directing style of the film is not as good as I would have thought it should be. There were moments where the directing was great, and theyre were moments where I thought they could have been better. Some really great shots were ruined by the faulty editing and directing, but i got over it.
On the flaw side of things, the film runs over a 2 hour time, so some parts were really dull and drawn out. Another thing is that we have seen it all before.
Bottom Line: I Liked It
