"Two Weeks Notice" is cheesy, cornballish, predictable, yet I loved every single second of it and loved it for that. This romantic comedy stars Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant. Sandra Bullock plays Lucy Kelson, an attorney trying to save the world overnight. Grant stars as George Wade, a billionaire boss of many companies.
She is trying to save a community center and be a good lawyer. He wants to look good, make more money, and bed the hottest women. They have no reason to date and meet. But then again, this is the movies, ANYTHING is possible!
He hires her because she has a law degree at Harvard, and she works for him since he promises to save the community center and she can use his resources for something good. But instead of doing any of that, he has her picking out ties, girlfriends, and other assorted nonsense. She is insulted and gives him her two weeks notice.
Well, you can connect the dots as to what goes on from this point forward if you have any history at all of seeing romantic comedies. What makes this movie a special one is the connection, chemistry, and charm of Bullock and Grant. Putting those two together in a romantic comedy was very, very wise.
This is a movie where you just sit back and watch them do their work and you just enjoy. They are so good, that in a movie like this, the plot means nothing. Grant plays the character he has played in countless movies, but who better then Hugh Grant to play it? And Bullock is perfect for this goofball yet sexy comedic role she is in. They are just a lot of fun to watch and ooze wit and sex appeal.
Towards the end the movie gets even more over the top and cheesy, but I bought every single second of it, since I invested some time in the characters and got to really like them for their goofiness and flaws. I walked out of the movie with a smile on my face and sometimes that is a better then an interesting and different plot. I laughed out loud at least a dozen times. This is a funny and fun movie.
