I really did try to kill myself
My Favorite Movie Quotes for The Rules of Attraction :
Sean Bateman: Lauren don't walk away. HEY! I really did try to kill myself... just before I faked it.
Rupert: Get it straight, f*ckhead: I need you like I need a f*cking a**hole on my elbow.
[puts elbow in Sean's face]
Rupert: Right here. An a**hole. That's how much I need you.
Ok lots of people do not think highly of this movie because....well I don't know.. I thought it was great! First off the film has tons of SEX in it and Nudity which always can save a bad script.....not saying that this has one but it always helps!
The characters are easy to identify with and I thought each actor did his/her character very well. You have several familiar faces including James Van Der Beek, Jessica Biel, Thomas Ian Nicholas (Yes he plays a pu**y in this film too) and even little Kevin Arnold AKA Fred Savage has a small cameo in the film.
The director used a serious of camera technics that I think is the coolest thing ever. Some scenes are played in reverse, some are shown in a split screen format to where you can see both actors having the conversation while they are looking at each other, from each others eyes.....You might just need to see it to understand. Anyway's it has been criticized saying that there was too much editing , too many camera tricks, etc....but I liked it and thought that it was not overboard as others have.
The movie comes with lots of drugs, guns, alcohol, suicide, gays, etc.....it really is put together well. I would say anyone into film should appreciate this and really needs to see it.
The worst part of the film is the ending. It just stops and I felt that was the weakest link. Up until that point though I think its a very real portrayal of college life and college age students.
